Mission Statement
Career Services supports the mission and goals of Utah State University by assisting students and alumni in exploring and pursuing meaningful careers over a lifetime. This is accomplished by providing a broad range of developmental programs and events delivered in a student-centered, state-of-the-art environment. These services include:
Career Services is a leader in continuously fostering positive partnerships with employers, students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and the greater community. These external and internal partnerships are critical in helping students and alumni discover their career potential while sharing their success with their families, employers, and communities.
Strategic Goals 2006 - 2008
Serve as the key campus resource for career exploration and development, career employment and issues, graduate school preparation, and testing by providing programming and services to: employers, students, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, extension centers, and the greater community.
Provide a holistic model of career exploration and employment by helping constituents integrate academic and professional experiences with their goals, values, interests, skills, and personalities.
Provide a variety of formats for students and alumni to interact with employers from private, government, education, and non-profit sectors including: on-campus recruiting, information sessions, forums and panels, and campus-wide expos and fairs.
Increase student participation with the Career Services Center in the four areas of focus: career exploration, co-op/internships, career employment, and testing.
Serve as the resource for data related to career development, co-op internships, career employment, and testing by gathering, organizing, and disseminating data to the appropriate on- and off-campus audiences.
Maintain a high standard for customer service, which exceeds our constituents’ expectations by creating a warm and friendly environment coupled with supportive, ethical, and knowledgeable staff.
Enhance the role of faculty in the career exploration and employment process and expand these partnerships across campus.
Continue to expand outreach efforts to build partnerships on campus for special populations in order to meet the unique needs of these diverse groups including: international students, multi-cultural students, women and re-entry students, first-generation students, off-campus students, disabled students, student athletes, fraternity/sorority members, honors students, and living and learning communities (housing).
Expand partnerships with industry and government to increase the pool of employers accessing our services and create opportunities for fundraising.
Expand linkages with alumni in order to more effectively serve the needs of alumni career changers while assisting alumni hiring employees for their own organizations.
Value lifelong learning through focusing on staff development in order to provide quality programs to meet the needs of our constituents.
Update technology to meet the needs of our constituents while maintaining a “high-tech and high-touch” environment.
Engage in the continuous improvement of our services, training, technology and resources through the use of regional and national benchmarking, input from our constituents, and assessment.
Career Services at Utah State University is a member of the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) and follows the Principals for Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals.
